Runajambi, Institute for the
Study of Quichua Culture and Health, is a non-profit Quichua (Inca)
organization created under ministerial agreement No. 3973, on January
10, 1990. It is the first Quichua health research institution in Ecuador devoted
to the physical and mental health of the First Nations of the Andes.
The institute is located
in Otavalo, in the province of Imbabura. The region is surrounded by
magnificent volcanoes and lakes, and has a perennial temperate climate.
The Quichua culture and traditions and the richness of handicrafts
production have rendered Otavalo an appreciated place for national and
international visitors.
